With the population growing, more mouths to feed and less space to grow our food, agriculture needs talented individuals with the ideas and the know-how to keep the UK up to speed.

There’s a huge range of job opportunities in farming and food supply. It’s not all about mud and wellies, although if you like a bit of fresh air, you’ve come to the right place. Your career in agriculture could see you earning a great salary and you could find yourself trading grain on the markets, developing new technologies to make farming more efficient or using your media skills to change the way people think about food.

If you’re ambitious, there is real scope to progress in this industry. And you can choose where you’d like to start, too; there are opportunities at all levels, whether you’re planning to start work after GCSEs or are a PhD graduate.

Is a career in food and farming for you? Take a look at this short film produced by Writtle College to discover the wide range of opportunities within agriculture.
